The traditional dress for the Kerala woman is the Mundum Neriyathum, which is a hand woven, cream coloured with a gold coloured border. This saw a slight modification in the form of set saree. Although the Mundum Neriyathum can be seen being worn by rural elderly women it has almost disappeared from the cities. While Sari remains the attire of choice for most middle aged women, the north Indian Churidars is the dress of choice for most young employed women.
